Century Wins on Guerrero’s Late Header

Victor Guerrero scored in overtime on a header after a throw-in from Jaime Vasquez to give Century a 3-2 victory over South Torrance Friday in a first-round Division II boys’ soccer game.
Steve Cervantes scored two goals for the Centurions (15-3-3), who face Long Beach Jordan Tuesday.
In other Division II games:
Orange 3, La Puente Bishop Amat 1--Victor Diaz scored two unassisted goals and Jose Velasquez scored the third for host Orange (15-3-6).
Chino Hills Ayala 4, Cypress 1--Ayala (14-6-1) scored three second-half goals and advanced to play Orange. Brad Dunaway scored for Cypress (9-4-6).
Long Beach Millikan 2, Loara 1 (OT)--Edger Leal scored the winning goal with 40 seconds remaining in sudden death for third-seeded Millikan. Rafael Barajas had tied the score with 10 minutes remaining in the second half for Loara (8-9-6).
In Division I games:
Capistrano Valley 3, Saddleback 2--Tied 1-1, Capistrano Valley scored consecutive goals in the second half. Taylor Richmond, Don Gutierez and Brett Thompson scored for Capistrano Valley (10-7-5). The Cougars will play Esperanza Thursday in the quarterfinals.
Esperanza 3, La Verne Damien 0--Aaron Poling scored two goals and Randy Mitchell scored one for second-seeded Esperanza (23-2-2). Damien finished 18-6-3.
Santa Ana 1, Trabuco Hills 0 (OT)--Juan Reyes scored the winning goal 14 minutes into overtime and Santa Ana (18-2-2) got its 17th shutout of the season. Jose Cadena had an assist on the goal. Todd Abdalla had eight saves for Trabuco Hills (8-7-7). Santa Ana will play Westlake.
Westlake Village Westlake 2, Edison 1--Jeremy Wessely scored both goals for Westlake (18-1-3), the game-winner coming early in the second half. Michael Jurczak had tied score 20 minutes into the first half for Edison (11-13-4).
In Division IV:
Moorpark 2, Fullerton 1--Alejandro Barragan pulled Fullerton (10-9-3) within one midway through the second half. Visiting Moorpark is 13-6-5.
In Division V:
Orange Lutheran 2, San Jacinto 1--Matt Stiles scored the winning goal for Orange Lutheran midway through the second half, off an assist from Josh Nelson. Nelson put Orange Lutheran (17-3-6) up 1-0 in the first half off an assist from Stiles. San Jacinto tied it early in the second half. Orange Lutheran will play Santa Ynez in the next round.
