Runners Chase After Prizes in City Events

The city’s 16th annual 10K and 5K Run is scheduled for Saturday.
The competition, co-sponsored by the Rossmoor Community Services District, awards cash prizes and health club memberships to the top male and female participants. The youngest and oldest participants will also receive awards.
A less strenuous event will be the 5K Costume Fun Walk, for which about 10% of participants dress up, organizers said.
“It’s fun. Some people are striding, and some people are just strolling,” a recreation department spokesperson said.
The 5K Run and the Costume Fun Walk will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the 10K Run at 8:45 a.m. All events start at the Los Alamitos Community Center and finish at Rossmoor Park.
