WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A former soldier given LSD nearly 40 years ago in experiments by the Army and the CIA won more than $400,000 from arbitrators to settle his lawsuit against the government.
The three-member panel ruled in a split decision Monday that the government owed James Stanley, 62, of nearby Palm Springs $400,577 for secretly giving him LSD in 1958. He was then a young soldier who thought he was participating in a test of equipment and clothing.
