‘My Guys’ a Limo Ride of Cheesy, Uninspired Humor

“My Guys” is one of those sitcoms you can take or leave. But leave is more likely.
The protagonist, a rough-around-the-edges widower and limo company operator named Sonny Demarco (Michael Rispoli), is likable enough. As are his sons, 15-year-old Michael (Mike Damus) and 12-year-old Francis (Francis Capra).
But the CBS premiere, which finds Sonny going out on his first date in 17 years and Michael falling for a swell-looking next door neighbor (Marisol Nichols), makes no compelling case for tuning in again. Unless you enjoy cheesy rear-end projection (to simulate traveling in a limo) and a slab of uninspired humor whose non-climax (this is an 8:30 p.m. series) has Sonny fleeing from sex and a relationship with his friend, Dori (Sherie Scott).
A bit of dialogue between Sonny and Mike pretty much sums up the first half-hour.
“Funny, huh?”
“Not so far.”
