Laird Delivers Key Hit to Boost La Quinta, 8-7

A hobbled Gerald Laird homered with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning to give La Quinta an 8-7 victory over Bolsa Grande in a Garden Grove League baseball game Tuesday at La Quinta.
Laird was injured in a fall Saturday. He needed five stitches in his head and eight in his thigh. He was the team’s designated hitter and drove a 3-and-2 pitch over the right-center field fence.
La Quinta is 12-3, 4-0.
