OKLAHOMA CITY — A motorist who drove onto a closed interstate and weaved in and out of President Clinton’s motorcade was jailed Friday on charges of drunk driving and drug possession.
Witnesses said Joe Craig Fancher, 44, of suburban Del City got no closer than seven cars behind Clinton before he was stopped by a motorcycle police officer. A Del City police dispatcher said bond was set at $16,000.
It was not immediately clear how the driver got onto Interstate 40, which was blocked off for the president’s trip. The motorcade was traveling to Tinker Air Force Base, where Clinton later left for Washington after a memorial for victims of the Oklahoma City federal building bombing.
