Prize-Winning Bunny Swiped on Easter

Sometime on Easter Sunday, someone opened the rabbit hutch outside Laurrie Campbell’s Ventura home and removed her daughters’ award-winning rabbit.
Snow Shimmer--a white, Netherlands dwarf rabbit that has won several prizes at the Ventura County Fair--was missing Sunday afternoon, the victim of an apparent heist. Campbell said the rabbit disappeared between 2:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The family kept 6-year-old Snow Shimmer and two other rabbits in a cage along the side of their house on North Bank Drive. Whoever took Snow Shimmer left the other bunnies alone, leading Campbell to believe the thief knew something about prize rabbits.
Ventura police said they had no leads in the case.
The missing rabbit weighs about 2 1/2 pounds, has blue eyes and has identification tattoos in her ears. One ear is marked “D1737”--the other reads “7558D.”
Campbell said whoever has the rabbit should contact her at 671-9549. “We wouldn’t question,” she said. “We just want the rabbit back.”
