Former U.S. Rep. Dan Rostenkowski is expected to plead guilty this week to two corruption charges in a deal that would limit his sentence to 17 months in jail, according to news reports. Rostenkowski, 68, also agreed to pay $100,000 as part of the plea deal, Newsweek magazine and Chicago’s WBBM-TV reported, citing unidentified sources close to the case. Rostenkowski, a Chicago Democrat, lost his bid for reelection to a 19th term in 1994. Felony charges against him included mail fraud, tampering with a witness, embezzling public funds, concealing a material fact, wire fraud and aiding and abetting a crime.
