Colleges : Campus scene : Student Fees to Rise for New Child Center

Saying that the child-care center at Cal State Fullerton is too small and too close to a major boulevard, the Associated Students Board of Directors has approved a student fee increase of $10 to build a new facility.
University officials said a car crashed through the Children’s Center fence along State College Boulevard last year and ended up on the playground.
Though there were no injuries, officials said, students who leave their children at the center while they attend classes have expressed concern that another accident could occur.
Also, more than 50 children are on the center’s waiting list.
“The center has one of the best programs in the state but one of the worst facilities,” Associated Students President Heith Rothman said. “We need a new center.”
