Johnson C. Woo, a Ventura County environmental health officer, died Tuesday after a long battle with lymphoma. He was 45.
Woo, who was born Feb. 28, 1951, moved to Ventura County 10 years ago from Loma Linda.
He worked as an environmental health officer for Ventura County for 10 years, was very interested in medical research and public health and was a member of various public health organizations.
Woo earned his medical degree at the University of the East in the Philippines and worked as a physician in the Philippines. He earned his master’s degree in public health at Loma Linda University.
Woo, a Ventura resident, enjoyed fishing and tying flies, archery and target shooting.
He is survived by his wife, Molly Woo of Ventura; a son, Max Henry Woo of Ventura; his mother, Chang Siok Ming of Hong Kong; a sister, Shirley Wong of Hong Kong; and his brother, Henry Woo of Canada.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ventura.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Santa Paula Memorial Hospital Nursing Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura.
