The Oxnard Police Department has scheduled its third sobriety checkpoint of the year tonight.
Officers will stop cars and check for possible DUI violations and license information beginning at 7 p.m. in the western portion of the city.
Drivers found to be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be arrested and their cars will be impounded. Drivers without proper licenses will be cited and their cars will also be subject to towing.
The checkpoint is part of a police program to reduce the number of drunk and unlicensed drivers.
