South Coast Sabers Win in Hockey Tournament

The South Coast Sabers pee-wee team from Anaheim won its first game at the USA Hockey championships, defeating host Cleveland, 11-4, Thursday.
Chris White had three goals and two assists, Jason Attanasio scored three goals and Ryan Hollweg had two goals and four assists for the Sabers, competing in the 11-12 age group.
The Sabers, who won the California and Pacific District championship, play games against Arvada, Colo., and Arlington, Mass., today. The tournament concludes Sunday.

Chris Rose, the most valuable player for the Rancho Santiago men’s basketball team last season, has signed a letter of intent with Oregon State.
Rose, a 6-10 center, averaged a team-high 16.9 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Dons (20-12). He was selected first team All-Orange Empire Conference.

Kassie Rypel of Dana Hills signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer at Cal State Fullerton, Dolphin Coach Matt Williams announced.
