A Swift Ride to Sleepy Land on Homemade Bed-Mobile
- Share via
This bed makes a nice first car for kids who dream of the Indy 500. And it’s an ideal do-it-yourself project for parents who’d like to see the bedtime routine race by.
Built mostly from plywood, the bed-mobile is designed to be inexpensive, easy to put together and sturdy. The bed rests on a strong frame--the wheels are strictly for show, not go. Two sets of specifications allow do-it-yourselfers to build the bed to fit either a junior- or twin-size mattress.
The car bed is a terrific project for parents and kids to tackle together. All of the car bed’s curved pieces are traced from full-size patterns, so after tracing them onto plywood, just saw them out, sand, assemble and paint.
The bed measures 86 inches long by 48 inches wide by 20 inches tall.
