Orosco Leads Fullerton to 3rd in Tournament

Louis Orosco pitched a complete game and struck out eight as Fullerton defeated Chino Don Lugo, 9-3, for third place in the Chino Tournament on Saturday. Teammate Chad Lucas had two doubles for the Indians.
The key hit came in the third inning for Fullerton (12-4-1). With Fullerton down by two runs, Josh Lucas tripled with the bases loaded to give the Indians a 3-2 lead. Fullerton added three runs in the fifth and seventh innings.
In nonleague baseball:
Laguna Hills 8, Long Beach Wilson 7--Wilson’s Kevin Marchael walked four in the first inning and Laguna Hills’ Kevin McCaffrey and Tom Banning made sure it cost him, each hitting three-run homers in the inning for the Hawks (13-3).
Earlier, Laguna Hills won the first game of the doubleheader, 5-3.
In girls’ nonleague swimming:
Mater Dei 92, Rosary 78--Jessamyn Miller won the 200 individual medley (2:13.07) and the 100 breaststroke (1:08.4) to lead Mater Dei (5-1).
In boys’ nonleague tennis:
Mission Viejo 14, Goleta Dos Pueblos 4--Eric Bachelor swept at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, for Mission Viejo (9-4). Bachelor, a sophomore, improved his record to 31-2.
In nonleague softball:
Villa Park 3, Fullerton 0--Villa Park sophomore Kristin Daniels (3-2) pitched her first varsity shutout and later won again in the second game of a doubleheader, 10-9.
Freshman Kristina McCarty hit her third home run of the season, a three-run shot in the sixth of the first game.
