A blaze gutted a sporting goods company in a shopping center early Monday, but no one was injured and flames did not spread to any other business, fire officials said.
About 30 firefighters responded to the 4:40 a.m. fire at the Unique Sporting Enterprise in the 10700 block of Katella Avenue, where they saw flames coming through the store roof, Garden Grove Fire Department Battalion Chief Nick Booker said.
Firefighters contained the flames within 24 minutes and determined that the fire began in the shopping area of the business, which manufactures sports bags and carrying cases. Authorities estimated the loss at $280,000.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Booker said.
