Folk Singers Will Appear in Concert

North American folk singers capture center stage at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza this weekend, when Peter, Paul & Mary bring their uplifting music to the to the auditorium tonight and Saturday night, and Canadian troubadour Gordon Lightfoot performs in the same venue Friday.
After a long hiatus from recording, Lightfoot will feature songs from his 18th and newest album, “Waiting For You,” and perform previous hits including “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Early Morning Rain” and “Sundown.”
Peter, Paul & Mary, though no longer on a nonstop tour schedule, keep performances to around 50 a year. At tonight’s and Saturday’s shows, the trio will share songs from their fourth PBS special, “LifeLines,” which aired in March and was the basis of their album of the same name.
The Civic Arts Plaza is at 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. Tickets for the Peter, Paul & Mary shows will cost $58, $48 and $38; for Gordon Lightfoot they will be $42, $37 and $27. All shows begin at 8 p.m. For more information, call (805) 449-2787.
