Parsel Resigns as Estancia Boys’ Basketball Coach

Tim Parsel has stepped down as varsity boys’ basketball coach at Estancia High, but will remain at the school as a teacher and perhaps as a lower-level basketball coach.
Parsel, 46, said he wanted to spend more time with his family.
“I can’t afford to put in the time at night any longer, but I’m not tired of coaching,” Parsel said. “So if I’m compatible with the new coach and he wants me to coach, I’d consider it.”
Parsel won three Pacific Coast League titles and compiled a 78-32 record in four seasons with the Eagles. He began his coaching career in 1979 at Costa Mesa and coached a year at Newport Harbor. In 12 seasons, he was 145-129.
