Photography, art displays, a rain forest terrarium, marine aquarium and “hands-on” touch tanks are among the exhibits that will be available at the Celebration of Channel Islands National Park to be hosted by Ventura Harbor Village from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Channel Islands park staff members and volunteers will be available with displays on each of the five protected islands: Anacapa, Santa Cruz, Santa Rosa, San Miguel and Santa Barbara.
Displays will be on hand from the Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network, Surfrider Foundation, International Dolphin Project and Los Angeles Council of Divers. Free public tours will be offered by the Coast Guard, situated dockside in front of Milano’s Italian Restaurant.
The festivities for children will include magic shows with Crystal the Clown at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. at the Village Fountain, carousel rides, treasure hunt, petting zoo and face-painting.
Artists scheduled to perform include Buck Page and Riders of the Purple Sage. Performances will be held at the Village Fountain from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Channel Islands National Park is staging a poster contest for children 5 to 10 years old. Posters should reflect the theme “Celebration of Channel Islands National Park.”
