Anaheim resident Jacquelyn Terrell has been named Woman of the Year in the 34th state Senate District.
“She is an exceptional example of the true spirit of volunteerism,” said Sen. Rob Hurtt (R-Garden Grove). “She has been an active volunteer for many years and is considered a person who makes a difference for so many in our county.”
Terrell, nominated for the honor by the Anaheim Community Foundation, is active with a number of charities serving needy families, senior citizens and youth, among them Anaheim Meals on Wheels, the Assistance League of Anaheim, the Boys and Girls Club of Anaheim, the Anaheim Community Services Board and the Salvation Army.
Hurtt recognized Terrell at a ceremony in March at the State Capitol. She was also honored April 9 by the Anaheim City Council.
California’s Woman of the Year program, initiated in 1987 by Assemblywomen Bev Hansen and Sally Tanner, is sponsored by the Women’s Caucus of the California State Legislature.
