Valley’s Yachini Commits to Cumberland

Tomer Yachini, a power forward at Valley College the past two seasons, has signed to play basketball at Cumberland University, an NAIA Division I school in Lebanon, Tenn.
Yachini, 6 feet 6 and 245 pounds, averaged 8.5 points and 5.4 rebounds for the Monarchs last season. He played at Fairfax High.

Arizona State freshman Darren Angel, from Granada Hills High, is ranked No. 10 in the nation, according to the latest College Golf Foundation men’s individual rankings.

Hart High girls’ cross-country Coach Larry David and Buena High girls’ basketball Coach Joe Vaughan each has been selected coach of the year by the California Coaches Assn.
