Sunday morning (or any other morning of the week for that matter), meet the world at Empress Pavilion for dim sum. Bring a crowd, enough to squeeze around one of the big round tables. Chopsticks at the ready, flag down waitresses who push carts filled with tiny treasures: steamed dumplings with skins so transparent you can see the chopped shrimp and vegetables inside, steamed spare ribs in black bean sauce, glistening squares of taro cake, sumptuous roast pig and more.
Empress Pavilion, Bamboo Plaza, 988 N. Hill St., Chinatown; (213) 617-9898. Dim sum, $1.85 to $4.80 per dish; $12 to $15 per person.
