Lawmakers to Discuss Boland Bill at Forum

The Valley Industry and Commerce Assn. will sponsor a public forum Saturday on Assemblywoman Paula Boland’s bill to eliminate City Council veto power over a movement to split the San Fernando Valley from Los Angeles.
The forum on AB-2403 will be videotaped and sent to the California State Senate, where the Local Government Committee is slated to hear the bill this month.
Panelists will include Boland (R-Granada Hills) and state Sens. Ruben S. Ayala (D-Chino), Charles M. Calderon (D-Whittier), William A. Craven (R-Oceanside), Tom Hayden (D-Santa Monica), Patrick Johnston (D-Stockton), Herschel Rosenthal (D-Los Angeles) and Newton Russell (R-Glendale). Bob Scott, chairman of VICA’s Local Issues Committee, will also be on the panel.
The forum will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Beverly Garland’s Holiday Inn, 4222 Vineland Ave., North Hollywood.
