ANAHEIM — A man was struck and killed Sunday night by an Amtrak train bound for Los Angeles, officials said.
An assistant conductor said the man’s identity was not immediately known. He was described as a Latino, in his 20s. The man was struck about 9:20 p.m., officials said.
Witnesses said the man appeared to have jumped in front of the train, which came to a stop in the 600 block of East Cypress Street, about three miles east of the Fullerton train station.
Passengers in the forward cars said they felt the impact and heard a metallic noise before the train came to a stop.
The coroner’s office was called to investigate.
