Shaq Gets Extra Insurance as Drills Begin

On the eve of training camp for the Olympic basketball team, USA Basketball bought an additional insurance policy for free agent and Olympian Shaquille O’Neal, making certain he was properly insured during the eight-day moratorium on NBA player signings.
The issue came up because of Friday’s 11th-hour labor settlement between the NBA and its players. The delay on signings and trades left O’Neal waiting at least another week to sign a contract.
The team begins practicing today at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago.
