An outdoor concert series at Ventura’s historic Olivas Adobe kicks off Saturday evening with Cajun and zydeco music.
The group Acadiana is set to perform in the courtyard of the Olivas Adobe, 4200 Olivas Park Drive, at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children and seniors.
Concert-goers will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis but can reserve a table when purchasing tickets if they want to bring picnic dinners.
“It is definitely a different concert setting than going to a stadium or a theater,” said Andrea Anderson, a marketing specialist for the city of Ventura.
Acadiana includes fiddler Phil Salazar and singer/guitarist Teresa Russell accompanied by drums and electric guitars.
All concerts will take place Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. at the Olivas Adobe. July concerts include the Estrada Brothers playing Latin jazz on July 13, the Cyrus Clarke Band performing acoustic folk music on July 20 and Nuestro playing Latin jazz on July 27. Groups performing cowboy-western music, bluegrass and other tunes will appear in August.
