There’s Lots of Competition for Rights to Seacliff Project

About a dozen home builders are competing for a chance to construct homes on 500 lots now for sale in the Seacliff development in Huntington Beach.
Newport Beach builder Christopher Gibbs and Lennar Corp. are taking bids. “There’s a lot of builders we’re talking to,” Gibbs said. “These homes will be just blocks to the ocean. It’s one of the best locations around.”
Miami-based builder Lennar Corp. bought the land from Chevron Land and Development Corp. earlier this year. There are 389 lots for sale in the peninsula area of Seacliff. Some have ocean views and some are on the golf course. There are four different types of lots, some as large 6,000 square feet, Gibbs said.
In another area of the Seacliff property, called Seagate, 234 smaller lots are for sale. Companies such as Toll Bros. and even longtime home builder Jim Peters are bidding for the land.
Look for winners to be announced next month.
