The Autry Museum of Western Heritage needs volunteer tour guides. Training, available at classes that begin in late September, includes a comprehensive Western history course and meetings with guest scholars.
The museum, located at 4700 Western Heritage Way in Griffith Park, also needs volunteers in the Children’s Discovery Gallery, museum store and visitor services departments.

The nonprofit volunteer network doingsomething is seeking people to help community and charitable agencies with events and activities scheduled during July in the Los Angeles area. Projects usually last about four hours on weekends. Activities include sorting donations at a thrift shop that provides funds for a laundry delivery service to AIDS patients; help with booths, sports and crafts at a party for families of children affected by HIV and AIDS; sorting and packaging donated goods at a food bank; a beach cleanup; kitchen assistance and delivery of meals to housebound AIDS patients, and help at an annual car show benefiting blind children.
