Musical Sculpture to Be Dedicated at Pond

A $100,000 musical sculpture for the Pond will be dedicated at a ceremony Nov. 14.
Artists Nancy Mooslin and Sandra Rowe have collaborated with composer Steven Stucky on an interactive musical art piece called “Musical Gateway.”
The sculpture, funded by proceeds from construction bonds, consists of four brightly colored abstract strands spanning the ceiling of the first floor of the public concourse at the Pond.
The strands extend down the outer walls of the concourse, where guests may push buttons to play one of four pieces composed specifically for the art piece.
The piece fulfills the art plan for the Pond, developed by a citizens committee and accepted by the City Council in April 1992. A number of other pieces created from the art plan have already been dedicated at the sports and entertainment facility.
