The city is seeking candidates for vacancies on three advisory committees: Cultural & Beautification, Development and Traffic Safety. Each of the citizens groups meets monthly and gives advice and assistance to the City Council.
There are seven vacancies on the Cultural & Beautification Committee, which organizes civic events such as holiday decorating contests, the annual tree-lighting ceremony, the Spring Festival of the Arts, Arbor Day and Memorial Day observances and the Concerts in the Parks series.
The Traffic Safety Committee, which has two vacancies, identifies traffic problems and makes recommendations to the council.
Development Committee members are responsible for the review of all new construction projects, including their design and compliance with the city’s code. There are two vacancies on this panel.
Being a resident of the city is the only qualification to apply for the committees. Application forms, available at City Hall, must be returned by Nov. 21.
