At Least Trojans Know How to Kick the Ball

As bad as the Trojans have been, the team has at least one effective performer, punter Jim Wren.
The junior college transfer from Fullerton punted 10 times in the 21-10 loss to Washington Saturday, averaging 40.5 yards.
He ranks first in the conference--USC’s only statistical leader in any category--with a 45.6-yard average, and is ninth in the NCAA. The USC single-season punt record is 44.6, set in 1953 by Des Koch.
Eighteen of Wren’s 50 punts have covered more than 50 yards, two more than 60 and he had one of 71 yards at Arizona State.
