Canoga Park Sets Up Sylmar Showdown

Junior Galvin rushed for 205 yards in 24 carries and host Canoga Park High notched its fifth consecutive victory with a 28-10 triumph over Reseda on Friday night in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game.
The Hunters (6-3 overall, 5-1 in the conference) set up a showdown against Sylmar next week for the conference title. Canoga Park trails the Spartans by a game.
Galvin, who scored one touchdown on a four-yard run, had runs of 47 and 51 yards to set up the Hunters’ two first-half scores.
Leading, 15-10, Canoga Park added to its advantage when running back Quantee Stansberry scored on an 86-yard run. On Reseda’s next possession, Canoga Park linebacker Michael Shoemaker recovered a fumble at the Reseda 32-yard line to set up Galvin’s scoring run.
Reseda (1-8, 1-5) was led by running back Jeral Lewis, who rushed for 73 yards in 24 carries and scored on a one-yard run.
Canoga Park’s Brian Hickman threw two touchdown passes, covering two yards to Kevin Carlsen and 19 yards to Shoemaker. Hickman left the game in the third quarter with a minor neck injury.
