DANA POINT — Chris Lewis rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns in 28 carries to lead Trabuco Hills to a 27-18 victory over Dana Hills in a South Coast League game Friday at Dana Hills.
Lewis, who had been hampered with a shoulder injury the past three weeks, led a Mustang comeback with scoring runs of 14 and 12 yards in the fourth quarter to erase an 18-14 Dana Hills lead.
“Chris did a very good job running the ball and the offensive line did a good job opening some holes for him,” Trabuco Hills Coach Bill Crow said. “Chris’ shoulder had been bothering him the last couple of weeks, but you could tell he was over it tonight the way he was using that shoulder and running into people.”
After building a 14-3 lead with 1:03 left in the half, Mustang quarterback Tom Lindow’s pass deflected off a Dana Hills’ defender’s helmet and into the hands of David Katcef, giving the Dolphins the ball at the Mustang 25. Then Aaron Kaufman threw 25 yards to Billy McCowan for the touchdown. Julio Peraza’s run made the score 14-11 at the half.
After Lindow fumbled, Dana Hills drove 58 yards on seven plays and scored when Kaufman threw 19 yards to Larry Page. Matt Deter’s extra point made it 18-14.
