Appointment of bipartisan commissions to resolve intransigent governmental problems was a commendable element of agreement between Bill Clinton and Bob Dole during the campaign.
It should be applied to reinventing a creaky political system which produced the choice between an aging, unfocused challenger and a younger incumbent who specializes in stretching the truth. America deserves better.
