Westchester Regains Volleyball Title

Vindication was the only way members of the Westchester High girls’ volleyball team could describe their City Section 4-A championship victory over Roosevelt on Saturday at Occidental College.
Having lost to the defending 4-A champions in the semifinals last year, the Comets (17-0) wanted nothing less than to win their first title since 1981. They did so convincingly, 15-11, 15-11, 15-5.
“Just to get here was a thrill because we had some stiff competition,” said Comet co-captain Iris Bell, who finished with 13 kills.
Debbie Sclimenti, a senior, had 16 kills and 10 digs, while freshman Mariane McAdam recorded 30 assists for Westchester.
