A sheriff’s SWAT team discovered the bodies of two elderly people inside a Santa Fe Springs house Sunday night after neighbors reported hearing gunfire coming from inside the home.
Whittier police, who patrol Santa Fe Springs, said that shortly before 7 p.m., they received complaints of a family disturbance on Davenrich Street.
As officers were en route, neighbors called police again and reported hearing three shots coming from the house, police said.
After officers saw a body through a window, they summoned a sheriff’s special weapons team, fearing a gunman might be inside. The SWAT team entered the home and found the bodies of an elderly man and woman in what appeared to be a murder-suicide.
Whittier police Lt. Bill Heckel said the identities of the dead had not been determined.
