Two spots in the San Fernando Valley will burn particularly bright during Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights.
The Jewish Federation Valley Alliance is sponsoring family festivals in the East and West Valley areas, to be highlighted by concerts, arts, crafts and Jewish food. Hanukkah will start Thursday at sundown, but the festivals are scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
The West Valley festival is set for noon to 5 p.m. at the Bernard Milken Jewish Community Campus, 22622 Vanowen St. in West Hills. Recording artist and cantor Caren Glasser of Temple Kol Tikvah will perform at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., accompanied by nearly 100 singing children.
Other activities will include a Tikkun Olam (“doing for others”) project for teens, a communal menorah lighting and a Judaica boutique. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for children 2 to 12. Call (818) 587-3300 for more information.
The East Valley event, set for 1 to 5 p.m. at the Valley Cities Jewish Community Center, 13164 Burbank Blvd. in Van Nuys, will feature performances by Jewish rock musician Sam Glaser and children’s entertainer Robbo. For East Valley information, call (818) 587-3212.
