Oxnard Can Take Pride in Arts Center

During my many visits to the Performing Arts Center while it was being refurbished, I was impressed with the orderliness of its transition, and the tasteful and even elegant use of color and materials in the remodeling of the facility. Oxnard has a first-class center, deserving of community pride and support.

As its manager, Jack Lavin has transformed the Oxnard auditorium into an elegant performing arts center. He deserves, and let us give him, our support into the next phase.

The Performing Arts Center is but one of the many facets of the city’s efforts to attract public patronage to our entertainment and cultural offerings. Perhaps more awareness of the interdependence of the committees and departments concerned with artistic and community events will enhance our efforts. Our neighbor to the north uses many elements of the artistic community to attract public participation.

There is much potential for improvement. As a first step--reinstate the Cultural and Fine Arts Commission. As for the Performing Arts Center--”Don’t fix it. It ain’t broke!”
