Community Effort to Reduce Crime
The Dec. 22 editorial described the contribution of the Santa Ana TARGET unit in reducing violent crime. No gang killings have occurred in Anaheim in the past 13 months.
Other organizations have played a role:
1. Disney Goals, the hockey and tutoring program serving 477 youths in four communities in Anaheim.
2. Taller San Jose, founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph; this facility in Santa Ana provides teaching aid in high school and manual training.
3. Los Amigos, a group of professional Hispanics, provides college scholarships for needy students.
4. Volunteers from all religious faiths who support the incarcerated and their families through various detention ministries.
These organizations welcome support from others in our efforts to guarantee a safer society.
