Irvin Reportedly Not on Tape of Sex Incident

From Associated Press

Dallas Cowboy receiver Michael Irvin doesn’t appear on a seized videotape that shows teammate Erik Williams having sex with a woman who has accused him of rape, the Dallas Morning News reported Saturday.

An unidentified police source told the newspaper in a copyright story that Irvin does not appear on the tape, but that detectives intend to submit voices on the tape to a sophisticated analysis.

Sources previously told the Associated Press the woman told police Irvin videotaped at least part of the alleged incident.

Investigators have not determined from the tape whether the encounter between Williams and a 23-year-old woman was rape or consensual sex, the source told the newspaper.

Dallas police spokesman Ed Spencer said Saturday that he could not comment on any evidence in the case.

“We’ve just got to protect the integrity of the investigation, and that just absolutely requires us to not discuss any of the details,” he said. “All we’ve been able to say in the most general terms is that we’re in the process of talking to anyone who might have knowledge of the allegations, might be able to shed light on the woman’s allegation.”

Police have not charged or questioned Williams, an offensive lineman, and Irvin, who have denied the woman’s allegations and spent the week practicing for today’s NFC playoff game against the Carolina Panthers at Charlotte, N.C.
