Plans for an emergency community meeting in South Los Angeles to address welfare changes in California were announced Friday by the Community Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment.
The meeting will analyze the impact of a federal law that prohibits anyone convicted of a drug-related felony after August 1996 from receiving any form of welfare, said Karen Bass, executive director of the coalition.
The meeting will be from 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 8 at the Los Angeles Child Guidance Center, 3787 S. Vermont Ave.
Information: (213) 750-9087.
