The manager of a West Covina convenience story shot a suspected robber Wednesday as the man allegedly pointed a gun at an employee, police said.
The shooting occurred about 4:20 p.m. at a 7-Eleven store in the 2800 block of East Valley Boulevard shortly after the gunman confronted a female clerk at the counter and demanded money, said West Covina police Lt. Dan Leonard.
The manager, watching from the back, emerged with a gun, shot the suspect and then disarmed him, authorities said.
The alleged gunman, whose name was not immediately released, was struck in the upper body and was in stable condition at Queen of the Valley Hospital, Leonard said.
