Cypress Wins Softball Title in Fresno

Michele Bailon doubled in the go-ahead run in the ninth inning and Cypress went on to beat Cosumnes River, 5-3, Sunday in the championship game of the Fresno softball tournament.
Melissa Beck started the inning with a triple and scored on Bailon’s second double of the game.
Gillian Tantardini had a bloop single to drive in Bailon, who was selected the tournament’s most valuable player.
Jamie Wilkes (15-1) pitched a five-hitter for her third victory of the day for Cypress (29-2).
Autumn Gwinner had a two-run single as Cypress beat San Joaquin Delta, 3-1, in the semifinal game.
The Chargers began the day with a 6-0 victory over Bakersfield in the quarterfinal round.
It was the fourth consecutive tournament championship for Cypress, which has reached the state tournament the last eight years.
