Mix-Up Feared in Tests for TB

Needles for tuberculosis scratch tests at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles may have been reused, raising what one expert has described as an “incredibly small” risk of serious communicable disease to about 120 students and staff members, officials said Friday.
The day after tests were administered in February, a nurse was unable to correlate the number of disposed needles with the number of people tested, raising the possibility that some needles had been reused.
All of the people given the tests are being monitored, officials said. Thus far, none has shown symptoms of any other disease that might have been communicated through the reuse of needles.
