Ventura County sheriff’s deputies are investigating a shooting that left a Camarillo man with gunshot wounds to the abdomen, authorities said Saturday.
Guillermo Rios, 20, was shot shortly after 10:30 p.m. Friday in front of a liquor store at 2650 E. Ventura Blvd. by an unknown suspect using a small-caliber weapon, police said.
According to authorities, sheriff’s deputies received an anonymous call about a fight and shots fired. However, when deputies arrived they could not locate the caller or victims.
A short time later, friends brought Rios to St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital suffering from an unknown number of gunshot wounds to the abdomen.
Rios was treated at St. John’s and then transferred to Ventura County Medical Center, where he remains in fair condition, authorities said.
Rios told investigators that he was getting out of a friend’s car at the liquor store when a car approached and several shots were fired.
