Free Screenings to Be Offered at Health Fair

In order to promote continuous good health, the Valley Senior Service & Resource Center will host the 20th annual Health Fair Expo on Friday.
Anyone over 18 is invited to receive a free health screening that will test everything from blood pressure and body fat to vision, said Jo Zeitouni, spokeswoman for the center.
The purpose of the fair is to promote the early detection of disease.
For $25, people can receive a 15-part blood test that checks for disease and high cholesterol. People found to have abnormalities are contacted promptly, Zeitouni said.
Other health-care organizations will hand out information about nutrition, exercise, stress and smoking. Last year, about 400 residents attended the health fair, Zeitouni said.
The Health Fair Expo will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the senior center, 18255 Victory Blvd. For more information, call (818) 705-2345.
