The Mighty Ducks announced Monday that they have lifted the ESPN blackouts of Games 1 and 2 of their playoff series with the Phoenix Coyotes.
“The Mighty Ducks informed the NHL, in accordance with regulations and procedures, that the club authorized the lifting of local blackouts on ESPN for Games 1 and 2,” team spokesman Bill Robertson said.
ESPN spokesman Rob Tobias also said the blackouts have been lifted, but Fox Sports West 2, which is also televising Games 1 and 2, plans to contest it.
“Fox Sports West 2 has exclusive rights to televise these games locally and we intend to enforce these rights vigorously,” Fox Sports West 2 spokesman Steve Webster said.
