SEASON AT A GLANCE: Herbert is seemingly following in the footsteps of former Hoover and current Arizona pitcher Nancy Evans. She has overwhelmed the competition with 149 strikeouts and only six walks in 79 1/3 innings. She is batting .400 with six doubles and 17 runs batted in in 40 at bats for the No. 6-ranked Tornadoes (11-3).
WEEK AT A GLANCE: Herbert opened the Pacific League season in dominating fashion by pitching a no-hitter and striking out 12 in a 23-0, 4 1/2-inning victory over Muir and throwing a one-hitter in a 6-1 victory over Pasadena, in which she struck out 18 and had two hits and two RBIs. Herbert has an 11-3 record with a 0.53 earned-run average.
