Alemany Fails French Test, 1-0

Michelle French scored on a throwing error in the bottom of the ninth inning and Chaminade High beat Alemany, 1-0, in a Mission League softball game Wednesday at Chaminade Middle School.
French led off for the Eagles (8-5, 2-0 in league play) with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. She stole third base and scored on an errant throw.
Maureen LeCocq (8-4) pitched a one-hitter, had 10 strikeouts and allowed one walk. She pitched her fifth consecutive shutout and has not allowed a run in 39 innings.
“She’s starting to come together, really starting to blossom at the right time,” Chaminade Coach Steve Harrington said. “Bottom line, she’s a competitor.”
Stephanie Urman allowed two hits and had four strikeouts for Louisville (8-5, 1-2).
Flintridge Sacred Heart 2, Notre Dame 1--Catherine Hugar hit a two-run triple in the fifth inning for the Tologs (8-6, 1-2) in a Mission League game at Glorietta Park.
Tricia Wetzel (5-5) pitched a four-hitter for the Knights (6-7, 1-2), striking out seven and walking two.
Reseda 5, Monroe 0--Kristy Rebbeck hit a two-run triple in the sixth inning for the Regents (7-5, 5-2) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Monroe.
Kristy Rebbeck pitched a two-hitter for Reseda.
Monroe (9-7, 6-1) committed five errors.
Canoga Park 11, Grant 10--Casey Georgeson’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning scored Carina Leon in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Canoga Park.
Leon tripled with one out in the seventh for the Hunters (4-8, 1-6).
Jenny Pitillo (4-8) allowed eight hits and two walks and struck out seven.
Laura Salerno had four hits and Sarah Rothman hit a solo home run for the Lancers (1-11, 0-7).
North Hollywood 10, Van Nuys 7--Claudia Villa had two hits and four RBIs for the Huskies (7-9, 3-4) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at North Hollywood.
Sylmar 11, Poly 8--Valerie Hernandez hit a run-scoring single to break an 8-8 tie for the Spartans in the eighth inning of a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Poly.
Kim Lopez had three hits and drove in two runs for Sylmar (7-8, 6-1).
Sofia Padilla singled, doubled and stole three bases for Poly (8-5, 4-3).
L.A. Baptist 4, Maranatha 2--Megan Petersen pitched a five-hitter with 13 strikeouts for the Knights (10-4, 2-1) in an Alpha League game at Maranatha.
