Irvine slowed down Santa Margarita’s charge toward the Sea View League title with a 4-3 victory Wednesday, and if the Vaqueros (11-7, 6-2) can win Friday’s home game, they will be tied with the Eagles (16-3, 7-1) for first with six games left. Cypress (8-7-2, 5-3) fell two games behind El Dorado (17-2, 7-1) in the Empire League race after losing to the Hawks Wednesday, but the teams meet again Friday at El Dorado. Saturday, Brea Olinda (7-11) hosts Carson in the Redondo tournament.
