Apple Valley’s Faria Wins Speedway Event

COSTA MESA — Mike Faria of Apple Valley won the four-lap scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program in front of 4,826 Saturday night at the Orange County Fairgrounds.
Steve Lucero of Riverside finished second, John Aden of Apple Valley was third and Costa Mesa’s Bobby Schwartz took fourth.
Robert Pfetzing of La Habra won the eight-lap handicap main event with Faria second and Lucero third. Shawn McConnell of Brea finished fifth.
